Welcome to The Wife of Bath, restaurant with rooms.

The Wife of Bath originally opened in 1963 to great acclaim, one of the first restaurants with rooms to appear in the country. Over the years the Wife of Bath has been re-invented but has always kept its reputation for fantastic food.

With Canterbury on our doorstep, you would probably guess The Wife of Bath took its name from Chaucer’s famous tale, however the wife in question belongs to the original owner, whom he met in Bath.

Expect nothing but the best quality, locally sourced food and the highest level of service when visiting The Wife of Bath. Run by a small team of dedicated and helpful staff your visit will definitely be one to remember. Bookings are taken whether you are travelling as a couple, family or group, we would like to welcome you all to The Wife of Bath and the medieval village of Wye!

In November 2014 The Wife of Bath was re-opened following a short period for refurbishments, now under new ownership and management Stefano and his team are driven to re-establish the wonderful reputation held around Kent. Please keep in touch as we look forward to welcoming our new Tasting Menu, a delightful 7 course mean created by our Head Chef Alex Weber.

We all look forward to welcoming you to The Wife of Bath
